An airstrike hit the grounds of Primary Medical and Sanitary Aid Centre No. 3 — commonly called Maternity Hospital No. 3 — in Mariupol on 9 March 2022, significantly damaging its maternity and children's wing.

Patients, pregnant women and staff were evacuated through shattered rooms and burning vehicles. Associated Press journalists, still reporting from inside the besieged city, photographed the aftermath.

The claims about the building, tested

Russian officials denied responsibility or alleged that the facility was non-operational or being used as a military base.
