Ho Chi Minh dies in Hanoi at age 79

Ho Chi Minh, president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, died in Hanoi at 9:47 a.m. on 2 September 1969, aged 79. Official Vietnamese accounts describe a sudden heart attack ending a period of serious illness; they variously render the immediate medical cause as heart attack, heart failure or cardiac arrest.
